Dhaka, Bangladesh, 16 May 2011: At its meeting held earlier this month, the Board of Directors of BOC Bangladesh Limited (BOCB), a member of The Linde Group, announced that Mr. Waliur Rahman Bhuiyan has been appointed as the first ever advisor for BOC Bangladesh Limited.
Mr Bhuiyan has been the Managing Director of the company since 1998 and steps down from the position through an early retirement decision due to his health issues. Mr Bhuiyan an MA in Economics and an MBA from Dhaka University joined the company back in 1975 and has worked in variety of senior positions in Gases and Welding business and also in the Personnel & Administration function before he has been appointed to the Board of Directors in 1996.
Mr Bhuiyan is a former President of Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce & industry (FICCI) and held the position for three terms from 1999 to 2003 and 2007 to 2009. In the year 2007 he was decorated with Order of British Empire (OBE) by her Majesty The Queen of Great Britain. In July 2008 he was appointed Honorary Consul General of Finland in Bangladesh. He is in the Board of Directors of ACI Limited. He was former Director of Chittagong Stocj Exchange Limited and Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited.
